Injuries have plagued Bayern’s season. During the course of the campaign, Der Rekordmeister have had to deal with injuries to Neuer, Matthijs de Ligt, Kingsley Coman, Leroy Sané, and many more.
However, one player that has been tarnished with ongoing fitness issues more than anyone else has been Serge Gnabry, and once again, against Los Blancos, the German international was withdrawn halfway through the first half with a muscle complaint.
As confirmed by Bayern, Gnabry has suffered a torn muscle bundle in his left thigh, meaning he will miss the remainder of the campaign.
Nevertheless, with EURO 2024 just one month away, this could see Gnabry miss out on a home European Championship with Germany. While it is not yet known how long the 28-year-old will be sidelined, it is understood that a normal return date for an injury of this nature is around four to five weeks.
However, as well as this, Gnabry has been plagued by muscle injuries since December, suggesting the possibility of a longer healing time. Therefore, while the Bayern winger may be able to return, it would only be if Germany were able to reach the latter stages of the tournament, meaning that Julian Nagelsmann may have to plan without Gnabry in mind.
