Leapmotor delivers first T03 in Germany

The Stellantis partner continues to maintain a high pace. The first of the electric compact cars T03 have now been delivered. The electric SUVs C10 are expected to follow soon. And by next year, there should be 120 locations.

The market launch of the Chinese Stellantis partner brand Leapmotor in Germany is underway, and the first vehicles of the electric small car T03 have now been delivered to customers. At the other end of the scale, the family-friendly D-segment SUV C10 is also set to hit the market soon. Additionally, the German Leapmotor team continues to take shape. At Klaus + Co. in Flensburg, the first T03 was handed over to customer Birgit Erdal.

“I have been an electric car driver for many years. I chose the T03 because of the huge interior space for such a small vehicle. I am also impressed by the unbeatable price-performance ratio,” says the first T03 owner nationwide, explaining why she chose the T03.

Andreas Dornburg, Managing Director at Klaus + Co, is pleased to have added the Leapmotor brand to the portfolio and is convinced of its success. He sees a tech-savvy clientele being served with high-quality technology and an extremely good price-performance ratio.

“Leapmotor’s affordable models will noticeably accelerate the take-off of electromobility with new target groups in our region and are thus the perfect complement to our Stellantis offering,” Dornburg is convinced.

Leapmotor Germany chief Martin Resch is satisfied with the feedback from dealers and customers so far and sees the start as successful. There are many inquiries on the dealer side, and customer interest is also present. Moreover, three out of four customers who come to the showroom because of Leapmotor have never been to a Stellantis partner before.

“We are convinced that the Leapmotor brand rounds off and complements the Stellantis portfolio,” says Resch.

Team at Headquarters Continues to Expand

It is also important that the Leapmotor team at the German Stellantis headquarters in Rüsselsheim am Main is increasingly forming: Martin Hellmann has been responsible for sales since the beginning of November, and Michael Haug has been responsible for marketing since then. Germany is considered by those responsible to be one of the most important markets in the international expansion of Leapmotor, as they have ambitious goals.

Ordering Started at the End of September

At the end of September, Leapmotor International, the 51%:49% joint venture between Stellantis and Leapmotor, which focuses on the global distribution of cost-effective Chinese high-tech electric vehicles (New Energy Vehicles, NEVs), opened the order books in Europe, almost a year after the joint venture was founded. At the same time as the establishment of the joint venture, Stellantis also invested 1.5 billion euros to acquire around 21% of Leapmotor and to benefit from the expertise and agility of the Chinese electric car startup.

“We want to significantly expand our footprint in the coming year and reach around 120 dealership locations across Germany by the end of 2025. With this, we want to have a good basis to meet our ambitious growth ambitions,” proclaimed Martin Resch.

Currently, two models are available at around 40 dealership locations in Germany:

  • The T03, a 5-door compact car in the A-segment with a combined range of 265 kilometers (WLTP) and the interior space of a vehicle from the B-segment, offered from 18,900 euros.
  • The C10, a D-segment SUV with a combined range of 420 kilometers (WLTP). The C10 is based on Leapmotor’s Leap 3.0 architecture with centrally integrated electronic configuration, the Cell-to-Chassis system, and a smart cockpit. The SUV is available from 37,600 euros.

Worldwide, Leapmotor International has already established more than 200 dealerships in 13 markets and aims for 500 sales locations next year. The planned growth is also expected to be supported by the compact C-segment SUV B101, which will also be launched in Germany next year and had its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show in October. The B101 will be based on the Leap 3.5 architecture, which is intended to be a highly integrated platform, including the latest ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), customizable digital cockpit, and intelligent driving functions.
