The UK might not be giving spring vibes yet but today is officially the first day of the new season.
If you’re looking to celebrate the start of spring, there are plenty of gorgeous European destinations that will hit the spot.
One of the continent’s lesser-known destinations is beautiful Lake Constance, or Lake Bodensee, in Germany.
A 63km long lake, the expanse of water borders Germany, Switzerland and Austria and it’s extremely pretty during spring.
The lake is one of Europe’s largest yet it’s far more peaceful than Lake Geneva, Garda or Como.
A tourist wrote on Tripadvisor: “In the small villages around this lake, life is still charming and devoid of the huge influx of foreign tourists that can make Europe feel crowded and inauthentic.”
Spring is one of the better times of year to visit as it’s far less crowded than summer and it’s not too hot.
A tourist wrote: “Go, but not in the heat of summer! This is an awesome place to visit. There is so much to see and do, ranging from old castles and fantastic ice-cream parlours.”
A city on the shores of the lake, Constance is one of the best places to stay for tourists who want to enjoy the water.
Don’t miss the city’s beautifully preserved medieval district or the interesting Rosgartenmuseum which explores the region’s culture.
Hire a bike to cycle around the lake’s shore or travel to see Europe’s largest waterfall, the breathtaking Rhine Falls.
