Debutant Aleksandar Pavlović discusses maiden Germany nomination

Speaking exclusively to Bild, Pavlović reacted to being called-up to the German national team.

“I’m very happy about being nominated for the German national team,” said Pavlović. “My plan was to decide between Germany and Serbia only after the European Championship this year. I had to make this decision immediately.”

Pavlović, born to a Serbian father, has represented Germany at U20 level. On choosing Germany, the 19-year-old added: “I would like to expressly thank the Serbian association, wo have also put a lot of effort into me. Both hearts beat in my chest. My mother is German and my father is Serbian.”

Born in Munich, Pavlović has spent his entire life in the city.

“My decision shouldn’t be taken against the Serbian national team, but rather for the German one,” added Pavlović. “I was born and grew up in Munich, spent my entire footballing career at Bayern Munich and I’m looking forward to the upcoming international matches with Germany.”

Pavlović was awarded his Bundesliga against Darmstadt in October 2023 and featured in Bayern Munich’s 4-0 win against Borussia Dortmund. Awarded for his performances, the 19-year-old made his first start for Bayern against Heidenheim in the absence of Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka.

Of his 12 Bundesliga games, Pavlović has started eight, and also has two goals and two assists.
