The Federal Association of Energy and Water Management (BDEW) discussed how Germany could become a leading market for electromobility, what is needed to further advance electromobility, and how the strengths of Germany as an industrial location can be utilized during an event called “Deep Dive – Road to Zero.”
“The energy and charging industry is delivering. This year, we will again achieve a record in the expansion of the charging network; currently, we are at a good 150,000 charging points, and in the ultra-fast chargers from 150 kW, we are seeing an increase of almost 6,000 charging points. Our industry is therefore exceeding the charging infrastructure expansion targets: both those of the EU and those of the federal government,” advocated Kerstin Andreae, Chair of the BDEW Executive Board.
Given the extensive investments by the energy and charging industry, there is only a warning against re-introducing goal discussions and fundamentally suspending mechanisms. The industry has also invested in charging infrastructure with the trust in achieving fleet CO2 limit values, Andreae further stated. For the construction and operation of infrastructure, reliability is seen as “the decisive currency.” In addition, the BDEW is convinced of the technology and its attractiveness.
